An operations administrator at Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) in Los Angeles, California, Emal Nessary oversees all building operations and handles financial responsibilities of the organization. Outside of his work with WGAW, Emal Nessary supports the efforts of Stray Cat Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting animal welfare in the LA area.
In addition to arranging adoptions of stray cats by loving Southern California families, Stray Cat Alliance provides a full range of care services for community cats. Stray Cat Alliance lends out more than 400 humane cat traps to members of the public, who use them to enroll cats in the trap-neuter-return program. After undergoing neuter surgery, community cats can return to their homes, free from the health and public safety risks of an un-neutered life.
Stray Cat Alliance also operates an emergency medical fund for community cats requiring medical care. Community members receive partial funding to cover vet bills, ranging from $50 to $500. In addition, colony caretakers with limited income may qualify for free food and medical supplies for their cats.
